Defragmentation Instructions

Most defragmentation utilities tend to be rather benign and leave system files alone, others (such as Norton Speed Disk) are more invasive. When certain files are moved the security for the P&L School may be broken. The following instructions apply to Symantec’s Speed Disk included with Norton Utilities, though the concepts can be applied to any configurable defrag utility.

1. Open Speed Disk
2. Choose File → Options → Customize → Unmovable files.
   Specify that *.ENT, *.KEY and *.RST files cannot be moved.
3. Choose File → Options → Optimization → Save to save as default settings.

If you have already run Speed Disk and the security has failed, there is no remedy except to call the P&L School and secure a new installation code.
